Requisition Number: 53893 Position Overview As a General Practitioner who specializes in drug and alcohol treatment, you will be an important member of our multidisciplinary team. Your key responsibilities will be: Conducting detailed assessments and creating tailored treatment strategies for people with substance addiction disorders. Providing medical procedures, such as detoxification and medication-assisted treatment, in partnership with our healthcare professionals. Monitoring and managing patients' ongoing health requirements, assuring continuity of care, and assisting with long-term rehabilitation goals. Providing counseling and support to patients and their families, as well as education about substance abuse prevention and health maintenance. Working with external agencies and community resources to provide complete treatment and support networks for patients. Qualifications A medical degree from a recognized institution and current licensure as a General Practitioner. Addiction Medicine-specific training or certification, or similar expertise in drug and alcohol treatment. Strong clinical abilities, with an emphasis on evidence-based addiction therapy and management. Compassionate attitude towards patient care, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a healthy work environment. Primary care and mental health management experience as a general practitioner. Fellowship in the RACGP or recognized status as a general practitioner. Expertise in electronic medical records and medical practice systems is highly desirable. Residency in Australia or New Zealand, with valid work permits in Australia. Evidence of opioid addiction treatment training and accreditation, or a desire to gain accreditation. Clinical experience handling drug and alcohol (D&A) patients is quite desirable. Why Join Us?
