How this position will Make the Difference to #teammelbourne Reporting to the Manager Council Business, the Governance Officer supports Council and the Administration to enable them to carry out their democratic responsibilities and functions in an open, accountable and proactive way.
The Governance Officer provides specialist administrative support and advice in relation to the Council and Committee meeting process and other governance related matters.
What You Will Bring Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values - accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
This includes commitment to excellent customer service, and proven discretion when dealing with sensitive and/or confidential information.
Tertiary qualification/s in business, legal studies or governance and/or demonstrated knowledge/experience in a Governance/compliance role.
Good working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989 and 2020.
Demonstrated experience in administrative work with high attention to detail, specifically: excellent word processing, preparation of agendas, and taking of accurate minutes.
Well-developed organisational and time management skills and the ability to work with changing priorities in a high pressure/high volume area.
Demonstrated strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of people, including the ability to work unsupervised.
