Red Appointments seek to engage the services of a hands-on and resilient accountant with strong financial operations and commercial experience to join this well-established, large national electrical services company.
This key role will see you championing and being highly instrumental in further developing and streamlining Group financial activities.
This role is located in Melbourne - South-eastern suburbs and will involve some interstate travel.
Reporting to the CFO, you will be one of three Group Finance Operations Managers responsible for the preparation, submission, integration and maintenance of Group financial reporting, record keeping, statutory compliance, commercial systems and processes across the Group.
You will partner with state General Managers (SA, NSW, VIC, WA, NT, and QLD) to influence the financial and commercial aspects of operational decision making and directly support the CFO in ensuring the delivery of a high calibre business support and risk mitigation offering to the Group.
With various business streams within the company, a strong focus will be on the analysis of large construction projects from a financial, legal and risk mitigation perspective.
Key functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to: EXECUTE THE FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL STRATEGIES: Work strategically with General Managers and Division Managers to ensure the financial, accounting and commercial functions support the operational objectives across the Group Lead and coach managers and key employees across the Group to ensure compliance and effective best practice Work with CFO to ensure a continuous improvement environment and focus on consistency SUPPORT THE OPERATIONS TO DELIVER FINANCIAL RESULTS: Assist with and ensure subsidiary budgets and business plans are prepared in a timely and qualitative manner Assist General Managers and Divisional Managers in the preparation and presentation at Financial Reviews and Board Meetings Assist and guide General Managers with a focus on cash, profit, forecasting and management Regularly analyse and guide subsidiary management through the WIP, pipeline and forecasting processes determining trends, risk and opportunities Work with General Managers to ensure terms and conditions with Suppliers and Customers provide Economic benefit to the Group Prompt Subsidiary Management Accountability to deliver more effective and efficient outcomes supporting analysis undertaken MANAGE CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, RISK AND LEGAL OBLIGATIONS: Oversee the audit of the commercial, finance and IT processes across the Group Put in place risk registers to track business risks and partner with Managers at all levels of the business to address those risks Ensure that all commercial/financial activities comply with the relevant legislative, taxation standards Be a champion of and ensure compliance with all Group policies and procedure including HSE Support the subsidiaries with the resolution of board and financial review actions Undertake contractual reviews with a view to minimising corporate risk and enhancing corporate consistency MANAGE FINANCIAL PROCESSES: Work with General Managers to implement and ensure compliance with Group finance and commercial policies, procedures and established protocols Develop the annual budget in alignment with the strategic plan Ensure invoicing, progress claims, debt collection and provisioning are managed to best practice levels Assist with the management of Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable and recurrent procurement functions Assist with the capital expenditure programme process FINANCIAL REPORTING: Coordinate and assist with the production of quality reports and information that supports end of month, board meeting and financial review processes Present financial reports, special analysis and other commercial/financial information to General Managers and CFO Assist with the preparation and conduct of the interim and annual financial audits Review regular credit and billing reports Coordinate reporting on key commercial/financial issues such as WIP reviews and overheads analysis and escalate issues as appropriate The successful applicant will have a proven track record being responsible for financial management of a company at Group/National level, and also commercial experience, in particular, contract review.
You will need to be able to communicate with non-financial people within the business, influencing decision making across different divisions.
To secure this role you will have: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce and be CA/CPA qualified Substantial experience working in a senior commercial/financial management role at a National/Group Level, within the construction or services industry (electrical, mechanical or engineering) Proven skills in leading team member and a capacity to drive business/process improvement strategies and processes Experience in managing the commercial / compliance operations of projects Capability to be the commercial person in all senior management decisions and influence key decisions Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills Proven results driven approach with an ability to work in a complex fast paced environment Excellent interpersonal skills, including resilience, negotiation, consultation, influencing and conflict management skills ATTITUDE is everything in this role, you will naturally be an ENABLER, a DOER, a PROBLEM SOLVER, with a sleeves rolled up mentality To apply for this position please select the Apply Now button and forward your resume in MS Word format only.
