Part-time during term times only for positive work/life balance Be part of a team in a leading independent school in regional Victoria About the position You will provide specialised music instruction to students, focusing on the woodwind instrumental family.
The successful candidate will facilitate student learning, support co-curricular ensemble activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to the vibrant musical culture of the school.
This role requires collaboration with colleagues, engagement in school events, and adherence to statutory and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving the following outcomes: Teach specialist instrumental music lessons, covering a range of woodwind instruments including Clarinet and Saxophone, from Early Years to VCE levels.
Encourage and facilitate student progress and learning in their chosen instrument, fostering a supportive and motivating environment.
Ensure that student reports are comprehensive, well-written, and reflective of individual progress and achievements.
Lead non-academic co-curricular ensembles.
Attend, facilitate, and actively participate in school performances, recitals, and concerts as required, contributing to the musical excellence of the school.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with school policies and regulatory requirements.
Attend school staff meetings, departmental meetings, and other scheduled gatherings to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.
Provide support and facilitation for Speech Night and other significant school activities as needed.
Consult with Heads of Department to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Fulfill administrative requirements of the school, including paperwork, documentation, and communication.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Demonstrated proficiency in playing and teaching one or more woodwind musical instruments.
Prior experience teaching instrumental music to students of varying ages and skill levels.
Ability to teach double reeds is highly desirable.
Working with Children Check (Employee) or eligible to apply for one.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Knowledge of music theory, sight-reading, and ensemble techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
Organisational and time management skills to effectively plan.
A passion for music education and a dedication to nurturing the musical talents of young musicians.
