The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching.

Responsibilities Vision: To lead a Year 9 & 10 curriculum at AHS that is rigorous and optimises the opportunity for student achievement and growth.
This Leading Teacher will work with the School Improvement Team (SIT) and contribute to the development and delivery of the school's Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and School Strategic Plan (SSP) goals and outcomes.
Strategic Leadership: Leads the development and documentation of curriculum across Year 9 and Year 10 in alignment with the School Strategic Plan (SSP) Goals.
Lead the curriculum transition to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 to ensure guaranteed and viable curriculum and assessment design that meet the requirements and standards of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
Leads the evaluation of curriculum offerings in Year 9-10 to align with cross-curricular priorities in the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
Leads the ongoing evaluation of the Education For Life (E4 L) curriculum to ensure an engaging scope and sequence for students.
Responsibilities: Develops and reviews all policy around Victorian Curriculum implementation in conjunction with the Assistant Principal (Teaching and Learning).
Leads the development of the Auburn Learner Qualities (Citizenship and Communication) in teaching and learning, and broader year level programs.
Coordinates the internal Year 9 and Year 10 exam dates, including supporting the year level communities with opportunities to learn and practise exam revision skills.
Oversees course counselling and subject selection for students entering Year 9 & Year 10.
Support Learning Area Leaders with new subject proposals and changes to subject selection handbooks in response to Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
Leads the analysis and reporting of Year 9 and Year 10 achievement data (including NAPLAN and teacher judgement).
Lead the development of an accurate internal Common Assessment Task (CAT) calendar.
Member of the School Improvement Team (SIT), Teaching & Learning Team, and Curriculum & Learning Team (CLT).
Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
