About the Opportunity The Media and Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive media and communications strategies that highlight the Library's contributions to knowledge, culture, and community engagement.
This includes maintaining high visibility for the Library's diverse offerings, including its programs, collections, research, and community services, across various media and communication platforms.
The role also includes end-to-end development and implementation of communications plans that support corporate programs, including membership, philanthropy, and commercial and corporate partners.
The role is also responsible for fostering positive relationships with key media outlets and the broader community to reinforce the Library's reputation as an essential resource for learning and inspiration.
Additionally, the Media and Communications Coordinator oversees all communication activities to ensure alignment with State Library Victoria's policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, ensuring full compliance.
About You The ideal candidate is well-versed in fostering media networks and relationships and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
You have a well-honed ability to design and implement media campaigns that generate significant positive coverage and public interest.
In addition, you will come to us with: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing media campaigns, with documented results by way of coverage and public interest.
Demonstrated experience working with traditional media and digital platforms, including social media and online channels, with a track record of successful media engagement.
Demonstrated experience in creating compelling messages for diverse audiences, including media, stakeholders, and the general public, preferably in a cultural or government institution.
An excellent track record in producing for-purpose communications, such as speeches, for a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated experience in handling culturally or politically sensitive topics in a manner to mitigate potential communication risks.
Demonstrated experience in creating media and communications material within a framework of policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
A track record of conducting media interactions that adhere to appropriate legal and ethical frameworks.
A proven track record of success in establishing and maintaining outstanding relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including developing and maintaining strong media relationships.
Experience in collecting and analysing data to inform strategic directions.
