Position Description: Mental Health Clinician/Psychologist Role Summary This role includes delivering a high standard of clinical practice in the provision of longitudinal and episodic evidence-based mental health assessment and care.
The delivery of these services will be to individuals who are experiencing mental illness and high levels of distress.
The incumbent Mental Health Clinician will provide a key role in the treatment, assessment, formulation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals they engage with, work with particular projects within the team that relate to service development, and work collaboratively with the broader team to develop, document, and support individuals who access our service.
The position is expected to actively contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of the services provided by the inpatient team as a whole.
This position is within Albury Wodonga Psychology Services and involves: The delivery of evidence-based clinical psychological intervention to consumers.
Supporting clients from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Working within a Private Practice that covers southern NSW and North East Victoria.
Engaging with a range of presentations and complexities in a Primary Health Setting.
Providing psychological intervention to consumers across the lifespan.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment to consider and collaborate perspectives from a range of other disciplines from both Primary and Tertiary Health Settings.
Key Responsibilities Providing validated psychological treatment to individuals in the acute inpatient mental health.
Providing specialist psychological assessments and clinical reports as required and integrate identified psychological needs into treatment plans as appropriate.
In consultation with GP's, Public Mental Health Services, and other relevant stakeholders, you will be required to take responsibility for collaborative care and planning for individuals during and beyond their phase of care in this service.
When required, represent the service in system development activities.
If applicable, provide clinical leadership, education, and support to other staff through joint work, consultation, and supervision.
Comply with the code of ethics and legal requirements of the psychology profession.
Contribute to the evaluation and analysis of guidelines, policies, and procedures.
If applicable, attend clinical supervision to a P2 or P1, provided that by an approved PBA Supervisor (included with position).
Work with the interdisciplinary team to ensure that clinical documentation standards are adhered to throughout the service.
Adhere to the principles of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care when working with individuals, families, and carers who access the service.
Develop, implement, and participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
Participate in supporting the mental health promotion activities of the service through the provision of education and consultation on treatment, care, and mental health issues to community agencies, workers, and families.
Participate in service development by establishing and maintaining effective relationships with other healthcare professionals, consumer groups, community groups, and agencies.
Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, including the maintenance of appropriate standards in psychological practice.
Maintain statistics and records that reflect the expectations and documentation standards of the service.
Adhere at all times to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.
Participate in mandatory education as it relates to specific roles and responsibilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI): High level of competence in the field of psychology or area applicable to the practising clinician.
Provision of a psychology service that is responsive to client need, timely in provision of reports, effective and high in quality.
Participation in the community team that is cohesive and well-functioning.
Effective functioning as a member of the community team as well as an independent Clinician.
Proficiency in working with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Proficiency in working with interpreters.
Special Requirements: Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed, recovery-oriented principles to clinical practice.
A current National Police Check shall be provided / undertaken prior to appointment.
A Working with Children's Check (as per relevant State legislation) may be required where the role requires working unsupervised with children.
Willingness to participate in competencies assessment, training, and education.
Holder of a current unencumbered Drivers Licence.
A police check will be required.
MANDATORY : Registration with AHPRA or relevant registering authority as a psychologist or appropriate professional title.
Experience and demonstrated ability to function as a psychologist within a multidisciplinary team providing validated treatments to adults with a mental illness.
Experience in conducting and reporting on a range of psychological assessments to adults.
Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and ability in the provision of mental health assessment and treatment.
Demonstrated experience and ability in the support of and consultation to, agencies involved in the care of adults experiencing acute mental illness.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, policies, and staff development activities.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development required.
