National Safety, Training and Compliance Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing all Work Health and Safety / Chain of Responsibility (COR) compliance requirements on behalf of the business. As the subject matter expert on WHS/CoR, you will guide a range of stakeholders in best practice approaches as well as providing legislative and policy updates to build knowledge and ensure continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
Implement, maintain and enhance the WHS Management Systems and ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of WHS related policies and procedures.
Undertake workplace inspections and reviews in order to identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to ensure compliance with relevant legislative provisions.
Ensure the effective management of workers compensation (including injury management and return to work procedures).
Health and safety auditing and hazard management.
Manage WHS/CoR compliance requirements on behalf of the business ensuring all parties are aware of their obligations & responsibilities.
Represent the Company by working with regulatory bodies, government departments (local, state & federal) and stakeholders engaged by the company to support supply chain logistics.
Ensure all required business units & employees are provided with training & have the knowledge to comply with legislative requirements.
Ensure that appropriate reporting management systems are in place to demonstrate compliance to Health and Safety, and heavy vehicle legislation.
Complete internal audits as scheduled, ensuring effective communication and management of internal audit findings and recommendations to resolve corrective actions.
Lead investigations into all Heavy Vehicle incidents and develop preventive and corrective actions.
Experience required for this role:
Relevant qualifications in Logistics, OH&S, Training/Education, Management or equivalent.
5+ years' experience in a similar role.
Experience leading and managing the training and compliance and/or safety function in a medium to large transport business or; experience providing driver training and/or education services to the transport industry.
Demonstrated working knowledge and competency in the area of heavy vehicle compliance management (Mass, NHVAS, COR, fatigue) in either an operational or regulatory (e.g. government agency) context.
Ability to set effective priorities, assessing abilities, strategic planning and efficiency.
