About the role Provide paralegal and administrative support to the Office of the General Counsel An ongoing, full-time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service VPS Grade 3: $76,817 - $93,275 plus superannuation About the Business Unit: The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is the in-house legal team that provides legal services and support across the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).
This paralegal role will specifically support the work of the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (Scheme), as well as the broader work of OGC.
About the Role: The Paralegal will be responsible for providing administrative and paralegal support to the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS).
This includes assisting with court proceedings and liaising with key stakeholders.
Some of your duties will include: Managing the administration and triage of work involving the Scheme, including coordinating legal advice and reviewing proceedings in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) as necessary.
Gathering and reviewing material relevant to matters involving the Scheme, including managing any summons for relevant material held by third parties.
Preparing documentation and other correspondence as required for any VCAT or other proceedings under the supervision and direction of OGC lawyers.

Demonstrated ability to provide administrative and workflow support to professional staff.
Strong communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, often with competing priorities.
An understanding of the Victorian court system and processes.
A working knowledge of administrative law process and procedure will be highly regarded.

Legal Operations: Review laws and standards to implement, update and maintain the organization's policies, standards, and procedures.
Legal Advisory and Risk Management: Advise on the whole spectrum of legal matters that apply to the business and its offerings.
