An exciting new opportunity exists for an experienced Project Cost Accountant to support our Facilities and Projects division.
This role can be based in SYD, MEL or BNE.
Reporting directly to our Finance Manager - Business Partnering, this newly created role will work closely with our Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and our Business Manager - Fleet, Facilities and Projects.
This role will play an integral part of supporting our Project Management Office (PMO) team for current and future projects, specifically focusing on developing project analysis and accounting, due diligence reporting, cost estimations, and final preparation of proposals.
In the immediate term, the Project Cost Accountant will be responsible for delivering essential information pertaining to ongoing and upcoming renovation works and property development projects across Australia.
In the medium term, this role will deliver analysis and insights into prospective and tabled opportunities for growth across our brands and businesses.
What are your responsibilities? Business case development, evaluating proposals and collating RFP information.
Due diligence reporting on multiple and concurrently running projects.
Prepare business cases for review on ad hoc projects such as airport expansions and major capex projects such as renovations.
Working Project Costs lifecycle from estimation to approval.
Monitor and measure project costs against budget independent of project teams.
Ongoing reporting & analysis, maintaining a dashboard summary for the PMO team.
Managing suppliers' estimates, assisting the PMO with tender processes and managing submission deadlines.
Work closely with the Finance team and Facilities team, having weekly check-ins on progress and timelines, discussing any changes to projections or forecasted costs vs budget.
Assist the PMO and team members with validation of information, regular communication updates, and any troubleshooting or flagging of associated risks.
Occasional site travel as financial support to our PMO Leaders and to attend meetings as required on behalf of our business.
Some interstate travel required three to four times annually.
What do you need to be successful in securing this role? Ideally CIMA, CPA, CA or related qualifications.
Proven experience budget handling project capex of between 10 M - 20 M or greater.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Cost Analysis and Project Management (aviation or food manufacturing experience ideal).
Experience handling new building or extensive renovation projects is an advantage.
Must have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy of information.
Strong commercial acumen with both revenue building and cost-saving mindset.
Strong communication skills in both written and verbal, along with presentation skills.
Knowledge of ERP systems highly beneficial.
Advanced Excel and Project management software skills.
Demonstrated success in end-to-end projects from conception to completion.
Construction or Commercial Property development background advantageous.
