About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Developer to join our team! Location: Sydney, CBD Contract Type: Full time, ongoing Reporting to the Head of Project Development, Australia and New Zealand, the Project Developer's role is to assist the project development team to advance renewable energy development opportunities for M-Renewables business.
As a Project Developer, your key responsibilities will include: Support project development and project management activities from project conception to start of construction, working to proactively identify project barriers and implement strategies to overcome such barriers.
Assist the project development team in the smooth transition of development projects for construction and commercial operation.
Assist the development team with securing power purchase agreements (PPAs).
This could include originating PPAs or participating in tender processes.
Assist in renewable energy site identification, assessment, feasibility and research, including research and cold acquisition of potential land for lease or purchase, initial contact with landowners, presentation of the project idea to local community representatives, engaging with Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs), support in urban land use planning up to construction readiness (ready to build).
Work with internal and external land specialist(s) to pursue site acquisition.
Meet and negotiate with potential project landowners to acquire site acquisition and to provide project information and support when needed.
Communication and participation in negotiations with landowners to discuss investment and realisation possibilities.
Preparation of network impact assessments including accompanying communication with network operators.
Support technology selection, procurement initiatives, and project dependencies to ensure targeted development and construction outcomes are achieved (i.e., projects delivered safely, on-time, and on-budget).
Assist in RFP responses.
Assist with planning applications.
Participation in presentation and discussion meetings at municipal council meetings.
Support public consultation and stakeholder engagement efforts with local communities, landowners, and leaders.
Support agency consultation efforts with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies and decision makers.
Coordinate project specific tasks including, permitting and approvals, project communications, feasibility analysis, engineering and design, procurement, and construction review processes as well as providing an effective transitional basis into construction.
Support continuous improvement of M-Renewables key development principles as well as identifying new opportunities to improve project execution and operational efficiencies.
Assist in the process of site acquisitions, due diligence in conjunction with internal teams and consultants.
Ad-hoc support within the development team, including documentation, invoicing and reporting.
Liaise and assist with key internal stakeholders including Development, Project Finance, Finance, Legal, Asset Management, O&M and EPC as needed.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Completed a bachelor or commerce, science, law, engineering, or equivalent.
Knowledge of project management, the Australian Energy Market, construction, financial markets, and government regulatory approval.
Financial literacy (cash flow modelling, present value, project equity returns) understand the use and importance of financial models and inputs.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good negotiating skills.
Computer and reporting skills.
Good organisation skills.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Mapping and resource modelling.
Proficient project management (MS Project).
