Position: Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) Location: Centre of Clinical Excellence, Victoria, BC Employment Type: Full-Time & Part-Time, hybrid (in-person/remote) Salary: Hourly + 65% commission ABOUT THE CENTRE OF CLINICAL EXCELLENCE FOR VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS HEALTH (VFRH): The Centre of Clinical Excellence for Veterans and First Responders Health was founded to support the mental and physical health and wellness of Canada's Veterans & first responders.
This brand new, first-of-its kind Centre of Clinical Excellence (CCE) is located within the Legion Veterans Village in Surrey, BC.
The CCE provides a unique opportunity to be part of serving and supporting our first responders, armed forces, Veterans, other public safety personnel, and their families.
The Centre focuses on clinical health care and rehabilitation services, innovative research and health technologies, as well as leading-edge treatment for PTSD and mental health.

POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) to join our Lifestyle Medicine team.
You will work within an interdisciplinary environment which includes a team of Physicians, RNs & NPs, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Clinical Counsellors, Kinesiologists, and Nutritionists/Dieticians.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of health as a holistic concept that includes mental, physical, and social well-being and will apply interdisciplinary principles and practices to provide comprehensive care to their patients.
We seek a qualified Registered Clinical Counsellor or Canadian Certified Counsellor with at least 5 years post-Masters experience and training in working with Veterans, military personnel, and first responders experiencing a range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and occupational stress.
The ideal candidate will have certification or established skills in one or more of the following: EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and CBT with a trauma focus.
The successful candidate will work in a variety of settings including individual and group counselling and will be responsible for providing care that is sensitive to the diverse cultural backgrounds & needs of this unique population.

Provide individual and group counselling to clients using a variety of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and CBT with a trauma focus.
Collaborate with Centre of Clinical Excellence interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated care to clients with complex mental health needs.
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with clients and their families, and provide education and support to help them navigate their mental health concerns.
Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to stay current with new developments in the field.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and treatment plans.
Work with Veterans & first responders with chronic and/or acute pain, substance use issues, and/or mental health conditions.
Work closely with the Centre of Clinical Excellence - VFRH team & other Centre of Clinical Excellence practitioners to meet identified client needs and achieve excellent client outcomes.
WHAT YOU HAVE: Master's degree in counselling or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Registration through the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) as an RCC or the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) as a CCC.
A minimum of five years of experience in clinical counselling, with a focus on working with Veterans, military personnel, and first responders experiencing a range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and occupational stress.
Experience in Group Therapy and facilitation.
Certification or established skills in one or more of the following: EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and CBT with a trauma focus, or other evidence-based treatments for PTSD or other conditions.
Patient, autonomous work ethic, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
A willing & passionate team player who thrives in an interdisciplinary, teamwork setting.
Interested in both personal growth & growth of the organization.
Experience with the following populations considered an asset: Veterans, first responders (RCMP, Police, Army, Firefighters, Nurses, Paramedics, Border Security).
Experience with shift workers, trauma, or mental health considered an asset.
Knowledge of Indigenous cultural practices and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
