About your new team: Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers.
Orygen and Youth Justice staff work collaboratively to support young people voluntarily admitted to the new Mental Health Unit (MHU) at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Custodial Precinct.
Develop your clinical mental health skills within a first-of-its-kind voluntary eight bed forensic mental health unit.
This is an exciting opportunity join a unique environment, and be a part of something that hasn't been done before! Your new role: Join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team and collaboratively provide recovery-oriented mental health treatment and support to young people in custody.
Deliver mental health nursing care from a Strengths-Based, Recovery-Focused framework and a strong focus on the unique recovery journey of each young person.
The role incorporates 1:1 therapeutic time with young people, unsupervised clinical practice, consumer-advocacy, collaborative bed and unit management, research, supervision and mentorship/preceptorship and facilitation of groups.
