About the role The Senior Commercial Analyst is responsible for the management of end-to-end processes of complex major financial transactions including the calculation, reconciliation and settlement of contracts.
This role will focus on the building of operational processes across business units to enable the growth in Corporate PPA and asset linked retail contracts.
This role will work closely with AGL's Retail C&I team, Integrated Energy' Contract Originations team, Market Traders, Legal, Finance, Market Reconciliations, and Treasury teams to ensure the accuracy and timely settlement of contractual obligations including all necessary reporting requirements.
This position also has an important role in understanding the key commercial terms and conditions of key contracts, with the skills to understand complex derivative contracts and the contracts' associated commerciality.
What you'll be doing Interpret complex contract terms and conditions and develop end-to-end understanding of supply contracts executed by Integrated Energy Contract Originations team through to demand contracts executed by Retail C&I managing all deliverables and timing of delivery.
Financial reporting and modelling skills to develop settlement and reporting models, as required.
Own and manage the new Inventory Management tool and become the key point of contact for all renewable certificates enquiries.
Establish and cultivate cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders and ensure all reasonable requirements are met where possible.
Manage relationships and resolve disputes with external counterparties (if required) to ensure accuracy and timeliness of contract obligations.
Synthesise complex information from BAU activities to formulate and improve on operational processes.
Perform ad hoc modelling to assist with queries from internal stakeholders and provide settlements expertise in consultation during contract negotiations.
Perform cash flow forecasting to assist Treasury to manage short-term cash flow.
Establish robust management of new renewable schemes' requirements.
Critically challenge the settlements activities, initiatives and lead continuous process improvement.
Provide team coverage and complex settlements support when required.
What you'll bring to the table Minimum Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field (CPA qualification, desired).
Relevant experience in energy settlements or similar functions in complex operations is preferred.
Strong analytical, communication skills, mental agility and ability to synthesise complex information and translate into robust operational processes with stakeholders buy-in.
Strong commercial acumen to interpret and understand complex contracts.
Reliable; excellent attention to detail; high level of personal pride in work; excellent problem-solving skills.
