Who are we looking for? We're looking for a Senior Group Financial Accountant to join our Global Finance team located in Melbourne.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the production of complete and accurate results for GHD Group, its subsidiaries, and the preparation of high-quality financial reporting.
The Senior Group Financial Accountant will be responsible for evaluating complex, judgmental or one-off accounting items; completing the monthly close and consolidation of financial results for the group; understanding material balance sheet movements; production of financial statements for GHD Group Ltd and key subsidiaries; and supporting local Finance teams with subsidiary account preparation.
Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Month-end review and consolidation including preparation of consolidation entries and associated reconciliations.
Complete monthly analytical review process to understand and explain key movements linked to business or operational drivers.
Support development of GHD's core accounting framework to provide standard accounting definitions for common transactions.
Deliver global statutory reporting, ensuring preparation of financial statements are fully compliant with accounting standards (IFRS), legislative and other requirements.
Manage the half-year and year-end financial statement process, project managing across the wider finance team to ensure accurate disclosures.
Be a key liaison with external auditors for hard close, half-year review and year-end audit.
Evaluate and develop recommendations on complex and non-standard accounting matters and the impact of new accounting standards and reporting requirements for the group, updating and communicating process changes considering all relevant technical, operational and commercial factors.
What you will bring to the team: Professional accounting qualifications equivalent to CPA or Chartered Accountant.
Minimum 8+ years experience in similar Group Finance roles, either within a complex matrix or multinational organisation with turnover +$500m or Big 4/mid tier audit firm with an international client base.
Established communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
Well organised, with an ability to plan and prioritise.
Demonstrated technical, analytical and problem-solving skills applied with an eye for detail.
Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience using a large-scale ERP (e.g.
SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) and BI reporting tools.
