Our client owns and operates approximately 300 schools in and around Melbourne.
Their Corporate Legal team is based in the Melbourne head office situated in the inner CBD and close to public transport.
About This Role...
In collaboration with the General Manager, Legal - Corporate, as a trusted Senior Legal Advisor this role will involve advising on a wide range of commercial, compliance, and regulatory issues that impact organisational operations.
Some key responsibilities of the role will include (but not be limited to): Strategic legal input into business decisions; Providing accurate, commercially astute and timely advice across a broad range of issues, with a focus on drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts including intellectual property management, ITS and procurement support; Conducting thorough legal research, drafting and reviewing contracts, negotiating deals, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations; Develop standards, template agreements, playbooks and other educational resources, to educate internal stakeholders across the business on relevant legal issues; Assist the General Manager with briefing and coordinating external legal advisors; monitor the quality, value and timeliness of services provided; Support, guidance and technical assistance for more junior members of the legal team.
This will also involve maintaining awareness of the legal and regulatory environment within which the organisation operates including monitoring changes and developments to enhance and support legal compliance and policy development as well as managing key relationships, working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
About You...
Ideal candidates will have a background as a Commercial (transactional) Lawyer, gained within private practice & in-house experience.
To be considered, our client is looking for: 7 + years PQE as a transactional (commercial) lawyer including experience in handling complex transactions; Experience working in a regulated environment ideal; Experience with technology/IT contracts & service agreements ideal; Ability to focus on pragmatic implementations and legal principles in a corporate environment; Attention to detail to ensure that all procedural requirements are met in accordance with key regulations/legislation; Excellent communication (written & oral) and interpersonal skills - able to establish and maintain strong working relationships; Highly developed, effective prioritisation skills - to manage competing priorities.
