The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Manager Compliance to provide support to Liquor Control Victoria, Compliance Division.
About the Business Unit Liquor Control Victoria was established on 1 July 2022 and comprises the independent Victorian Liquor Commission and staff from the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
Liquor Control Victoria is responsible for issuing liquor licences and overseeing industry compliance and enforcement to ensure that Victorians and visitors to the state enjoy safe and responsible liquor licensed environments.

The Compliance Division is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, educating, investigating and enforcing compliance with Victoria's liquor legislation and utilises a risk-based, intelligence-led compliance approach to identify and treat risks within Victoria's liquor industry.
This aims to regulate these industries appropriate to the level of risk and harm they pose to the community.
The division's focus aims to treat risks using an educative approach where appropriate to encourage compliance.
Non-compliance results in appropriate enforcement action.
About the Role The Senior Manager Compliance works closely with the Director to provide operational and program support to help to lead a team of people managers in the Compliance division.
You will be responsible for providing guidance and support to teams to promote team delivery of performance standards and monitor progress toward targets, providing program oversight, and timely and accurate reporting to executives.
This role also plays a lead role in responding to escalated and complex matters, and providing expert advice to stakeholders.
Some of your duties will include: Work closely with the Director to provide strategic and operational support during a period of change in the organisation.
Provide leadership, advice, direction and support to people managers, including day-to-day delegation as required, management of performance, and identification of staff learning and development needs.
Lead strategic planning processes and contribute to and implement strategic corporate initiatives and endorsed policy within the functional area.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Experience in the development and implementation of operational strategy to enable delivery of organisational strategic objectives.
Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams to implement and achieve planned, measurable outcomes and improvements, including experience in developing and building a positive workplace culture.
Demonstrated experience in providing high quality advice on a range of complex issues within limited time constraints, including authoritative advice to senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to collate, use and report on operational and program performance data to support effective decision making and improved performance.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, preferably in a regulatory environment.
Qualifications/Requirements A qualification in public administration, regulatory studies, law or other relevant discipline is desirable.
