Job Description The Presentation team creates award winning visual stories, illustrations and graphics for The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times and WAToday.
We work alongside the country's best journalists, photographers, video producers and editors to produce industry-leading visual content that informs and engages our audience.
The role of Senior Visual Designer reports into the Creative Director.
The primary focus will be to elevate the visual treatment of marquee storytelling, including investigations and exclusives.
Day to day you will: Work alongside Journalists and editors on visual content for news and features Create digital artwork and illustration for premium stories Be audience centric - put our audience experience first and foremost Regularly identify potential for visual stories and generate original ideas Work quickly and accurately to ensure deadlines are met Be a supportive member of the team, providing assistance and advice to others when applicable Keep abreast of industry best practice Qualifications Experience and passion for visual storytelling A keen eye for detail Ability to work to a brief and a tight deadline Experience with html/css Strong, practical skills with Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or Sketch Strong interest in news and current affairs Desirable qualifications, experience & skills Illustration skills Knowledge of mapping software Front end development skills - React, but any Java Script experience would be highly regarded Please include a portfolio of your work in your application.
