Why the job
Are you tired of the bureaucracy and politics of big firms, but still want to work on market leading transactions?
Do you want to make a positive contribution in a culture lead meritocracy? Where your opportunities are only limited by your imagination, and your potential will be nurtured and supported? Where a culture of collaboration is lived every day, and your contribution is measured not only through your time sheets?
Our team advises clients at the forefront of the global energy transition, with transactions that shape the future of domestic and global energy markets. Our service offering is unique in that our clients specifically rely on our market insights and understanding of their energy businesses.
Our integrated New Energy practice is unencumbered by structural legacy issues of traditional firms.
Free from old firm thinking, we truly partner with clients to deliver a superior client experience, driven primarily by our unrivalled people experience. Put simply, our environment allows our people to be the best version of themselves, which enables them to do their best work, and which ultimately makes our clients happy.
Designed to be different, we are a new firm in a new age - this is New Law.
The role
We're looking for a Special Counsel to join our rapidly growing New Energy team in Melbourne.
We're a diverse group, and are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, hard-working and fun.
Working with New Energy Lead Matt Baumgurtel, this broad, forward-thinking practice will give you exposure to project development, construction, financing, investment, joint ventures, and M&A transactions. Specialising in the energy lifecycle, Matt acts for investors, developers, and builders of solar, thermal, wind, hydrogen, electricity transmission, waste to energy and energy storage projects in Australia and the APAC region.
We are looking for someone:
with strong Projects & Infrastructure experience, specialising in Energy & Resources (ideal but not essential), gained either in-house or with a reputable firm
with a genuine passion for the New Energy sector
that is keen to be involved with the firm's business development activities
wanting a fantastic team culture
with an entrepreneurial and innovative mind-set
The firm
Hamilton Locke is an exciting, rapidly growing corporate law firm with a strong and rapidly growing client base. Our New Energy practice has a broad spectrum of clients, with a particular focus on renewable energy, energy storage, and hydrogen projects and investments. Working with some of the leading clients in the region, you will have the opportunity to lead complex, innovative, and market-first New Energy projects across Australia and the APAC region.
In response to workflow we are in an unprecedented period of rapid growth and opportunities and are looking to expand even further.
What's in it for you
Be mentored in a supportive environment, with access to quality work, great clients and professional development opportunities.
A fun, collaborative and high-performing team environment with regular social events, training days and team retreats.
Flexible working arrangements.
A clear and transparent performance bonus scheme.
An extra week's leave, as part of our employee personal development program.
Full day birthday leave.
Support in building client relationships and your own practice.
