Why this role matters The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence.
We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence.
Our services focus on prevention, restoration and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Family Violence Practitioner for our Orange Door Program.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of practitioners to deliver high quality and safe effective responses to victim survivors of Family Violence to men who use violence and to families who need extra support with the care of children.
This Orange Door is a point of contact that provides support for the community to ensure that the services they receive meet their needs and goals.
Reporting to the Integrated Orange Door Team Leader, this is a permanent full-time position based in Morwell, VIC.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 6.
You will successfully Deliver screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocation and coordinated referrals consistent with relevant risk assessment tools and frameworks.
Assess and prioritise risk/needs of women and children, families, and perpetrators, drawing on the expertise of different practitioners in a multi-disciplinary team.
Identify when a Central Information Point (CIP) request is required and refer request to the Integrated Team Leader.
Record client information accurately on the Orange Door Client Relationship Management (CRM) system.
Undertake interim support as a lead practitioner or support worker aligned with the Integrated Practice Framework.
You will have A tertiary qualification in Social Work/Social Sciences or related fields is essential.
Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable.
Knowledge of FDV including context, policies, regulations, and legislation.
Ability to apply FDV models, approaches, and practices when dealing with clients.
Ability to review and evaluate information to educate the wider community about FDV and encourage their involvement and support.
A current and valid Working with Children Check is required.
A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
