About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Manager, Western Metropolitan Melbourne Region, the Team Leader, Environment Protection leads and manages a small team responsible for delivering EPA's on-ground regulatory response in Western Metropolitan Melbourne Region, including education, compliance monitoring and inspections, and managing non-compliance via regulatory notices and enforcement action. You will plan, oversee and deliver front-line regulatory operations, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
In this role you will:
Lead and manage a team to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity; manage the allocation of resources, budgets, business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive and diverse culture.
Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents.
Ensure compliance with all legislative, policy and process obligations and requirements in the conduct of regulatory operations, leading a safety-first approach.
Actively participate in the conduct of investigations (under the direction of Environmental Crime Branch); and the delivery of preventative projects and compliance programs aligned to EPA's regulatory priorities.
Skills and experience:
Demonstrated experience and a record of achievement in a relevant leadership regulatory role (e.g. environmental regulation).
Demonstrated experience and proven ability to lead a high performing team.
Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
Ability to think outside the square, a willingness to try new things and a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference.
