WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER Gippsland Plant & Electrical – Pakenham VIC Gippsland Plant and Electrical (GP&E) Pty. Ltd. is a family owned and operated business that has provided civil and underground electrical construction services throughout Victoria since 1991. The business employs a workforce of approximately 20 employees which is made up of an onsite team, an administration team and a management team. Role context: The WHS & Compliance Manager will work closely with the management team to ensure correct WHS and Compliance practices across the company. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with government regulations including ISO standards and industry applicable standards and regulations, aiming to avoid mistakes that could result in significant fines, legal consequences, and reputational damage. JOB DESCRIPTION Purpose of role: Work closely with the management team to ensure correct WHS and Compliance practices happen across the company. Ensure Gippsland Plant & Electrical complies with government regulations including ISO standards and industry applicable standards and regulations. Ensure that employees follow all applicable internal compliance policies. Create a strategy to address potential issues and provide regular reports to management or key stakeholders on compliance procedures. Advise management teams on necessary actions or changes for compliance. Main duties and responsibilities: Core objectives include: Implement and manage an effective legal compliance program. Responsible for the continuous development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of documentation and the ongoing compliance of our Accredited Management System. Management & Updating of Company SWMS & other site related compliance documentation. Advise management on the company's compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports. Further develop and review company policies, procedures and compliance documentation. Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks. Regularly audit on-site operations to ensure compliance with company procedures and industry WHS standards. Assess company operations to determine compliance risk. Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations. Ensure all employees are educated and trained on current regulations and processes. Resolve employee concerns about legal compliance. The above list is not exhaustive, and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company. THE RIGHT PERSON WILL HAVE: Qualifications & Experience: Driver's Licence Advanced computer skills Basic to Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word skills Relevant Work Health & Safety and/or Compliance Qualification Working knowledge of implementing and maintaining ISO systems and standards 3-5 years' experience within a similar role and industry Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant field Highly analytical with strong attention to detail Advanced oral and written communication skills Employment HR compliance knowledge also highly valued Knowledge: Good knowledge of WHS legal requirements and procedures. Good knowledge of the construction industry, particularly, the underground cable installation industry.
