We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Facilities Manager to join our management team.
In this role you will be responsible for the operation, upkeep and building services of all buildings located at the Baker Institute (Melbourne and Alice Springs), the Alfred Research Alliance precinct partners including Monash University, Burnet Institute, Alfred Health, and AMREP AS, and its tenants Exopharm, Nucleus Network, Northwest and 360 Biolabs as well as any additional buildings, facilities and services which the Institute may from time to time acquire.
A key component of this role is to provide a safe and secure working environment conducive to productive research and associated activities, and one that is user friendly to clients and other users of the buildings.
Duties In this role you will be expected to: Managerial responsibility for the site's maintenance team; to manage and ensure adequate resources, equipment, and people are in place to meet the maintenance and engineering needs of the precinct.
Ensure the reliability and uptime of plant equipment and facilities through supervision of maintenance technicians, contractors and trade assistants — planning, implementation, and oversight of preventive maintenance and reliability programs, coordination of shutdown activities, and BAS.
Maintain and oversee the repair of all assets, equipment, plant, and lab machinery on an ongoing basis, including, but not limited to, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance.
Deliver equipment reliability through vendor-based maintenance solutions and predictive/condition monitoring systems.
Managing work orders in Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Responsible for safety and environmental compliance, including reporting and performing safety and environmental investigations and near misses.
Regular equipment and infrastructure inspections to maintain optimum equipment operation and achieve performance targets.
Assist with setting, negotiating, and defining budgets to deliver the engineering strategies successfully, driving the process that identifies areas for improvement that help the engineering operations to be more effective, efficient, and reliable, utilising available data on site and the latest industry-wide technologies and best practices.
Skills and experience You will have: Minimum five years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the Health sector.
Demonstrated experience in managing Critical Infrastructure including HVAC, Chillers, Fire, BAS systems.
Strong maintenance/operational background.
An electrical/mechanical background preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills ensure effective and courteous interaction with colleagues, contractors, visitors, and scientists.
Computer skills (Word, email, and strong in Excel).
