Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics (MTHC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Melbourne and provides world-class clinical training opportunities for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences students. It also provides patient access to high-quality health care for members of the Victorian community, within a private practice setting. There are six clinical areas that are central to this service, including general medical practice, dentistry, optometry, audiology, speech pathology, and psychology.

About the Role
Exciting opportunity for a dynamic finance professional to support the delivery of finance and payroll services at MTHC! This maximum-term position is available for an immediate start until the end of February 2025, with potential for conversion to a continuing role. It offers a true hybrid work environment with just one day per week required in the office.
As Finance Manager, you will oversee an experienced team of four, working closely with the Acting CFO to manage day-to-day financial operations and provide hands-on support. You'll receive ample guidance and upskilling opportunities in areas like payroll, reporting, and auditing. While direct payroll experience isn't required, a willingness to learn is essential.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of financial and management accounting, managing financial audits and systems, coordinating corporate services such as finance and payroll, and developing business controls to support senior management and drive new initiatives. This hands-on role is ideal for a finance professional looking to advance their career while building meaningful relationships across the organisation.
About You

Relevant tertiary qualifications preferably in Finance/Accounting, CA/CPA qualified with demonstrated experience in finance or management accounting roles, preferably within the health or education sectors.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse range of people to meet customer needs, expectations, and business goals.
Sound knowledge and experience in financial year-end and audit processes from a business perspective.
Proven ability to prioritise, monitor, and coordinate personal workload with minimal supervision to achieve agreed outcomes within specified time frames.
Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and reporting practice.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise reports on analysis findings.
Experience in month-end financial processes and reporting, including analysis of budget variances and assisting with remedial action.
Excellent computer skills, including all MS Office products and advanced Excel manipulation and modelling skills.
Experience in payroll (or willingness to learn).
Experience in training and/or mentoring others.
