With a history spanning over 100 years, this top-tier organisation is currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller or Head of Finance to not only join, but lead their high performing and dynamic finance team.
The Role Reporting to Executive GM of Finance and working in close partnership with the executive leadership team across the business, the Financial Controller or Head of Finance is responsible for the 'day-to-day' financial leadership of the finance function and is a key member of the leadership team.
On a day to day basis, you will be responsible for: Provide support and act as a trusted 2 IC to the Regional CFO.
Manage and lead the financial accounting and management reporting teams providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
Provide high-level analysis, commercial insights and expert financial management advice to the organisation.
Assist in long-term strategic planning, formulate sound financial strategies to support company growth and build its capability in making use of financial information to inform decision-making.
Have oversight of the management of expenditure for the organisation, undertake financial forecasting and prepare budget projections for the upcoming financial year.
Be responsible for the accurate collation, preparation and interpretation of reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
Develop financial strategies, including making recommendations for risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting.
Lead the design and implementation of financial controls, systems and policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and industry sector financial and legal requirements.
Design and implement effective approaches to managing financial risk and ensure the improvement and maintenance of internal systems and processes that will increase compliance with financial regulations and requirements.
Ensure timely completion of month end processes and adherence to statutory requirements and obligations associated with BAS, FBT, PAYG, and GST.
Act as a central point of contact with respect to half-yearly and annual audits and be responsible for SOX compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements Ideally CA / CPA qualified, you will have demonstrated extensive experience in a leadership and financial control.
You have strong attention to detail and have the ability to motivate and lead the finance department, effectively creating a business partnering environment to assist in commercial decision-making.
You will be hands-on in nature and your excellent interpersonal and communication skills give you the confidence to engage and influence those above and below you and across the organisation.
You have strong commitment to ongoing personal development and improvement of processes, and aspire to value-add in your next long-term career step.
