About the Role: As part of AGL's Climate Transition Action Plan, we have committed to closing our thermal assets and replacing them with renewable energy and battery storage.
We have plans for 5 GW by 2030 and 12 GW by 2035.
The Future Low Carbon Portfolio (FLCP) Team investigates and pilots emerging power generation and storage technologies that could help drive Australia's energy transition.
The purpose of the team is to strategically identify and develop emerging low carbon projects through to the Final Investment Decision (FID) and handover for successful execution.
This is a 12-month contract role.
What you'll be doing: Direct, coordinate and lead internal and external resources and contractors through the implementation of low carbon development projects to meet time and cost forecasts.
Negotiate high-value contracts for project delivery, including transmission connection, land, consultancies, equipment suppliers, and other agreements to deliver the projects.
Prepare briefings and papers for the Board, investment committee, and Steer Co.
Coordinate and lead internal and external resources to obtain all permits and licenses needed for the construction and operation of power projects.
Produce development project budgets in order to progress projects through the development phases to FID.
Plan, monitor, manage risks, and report on all phases of development.
Manage the preparation of business cases significant enough to be recommended for Board approval.
Manage due diligence for potential acquisitions.
About You: You will be passionate about the energy transition, but with a practical, technical, and commercial approach to implementing emerging power generation technology in the short to medium term.
Your strong technical and analytical skills along with your ability to influence outcomes across a range of internal stakeholders will set you up for success.
What you'll bring to the table: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, potentially with additional commercial or financial studies.
Extensive experience in power generation or project development.
A deep understanding of the NEM rules and connection requirements.
Exposure to project development processes from concept through to investment commitment.
Advanced communication, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
Strong financial skills, including understanding complex financial models.
