The Role: The Learning Development Assistant provides appropriate support for primary school students with special needs. The role reports to the Learning Development Coordinator and also takes direction from Learning Development Teachers. Learning Development Assistants help students in a professional and respectful manner. They may also assist in developing learning plans, working collaboratively with Learning Development, Classroom and Specialist Teachers. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) position; however, there may be an opportunity to increase to full-time. The role will commence in January 2025 and is required until the end of the academic year. As the Learning Development Assistant directly supports students, the role is only required during term-time. The Learning Development Assistant works with students one-on-one to support completing curriculum tasks and help develop learning skills so they can become independent learners. There is also a requirement to manage some degree of administrative responsibility for the program, including but not necessarily limited to, timetabling and attendance tracking. The Person: To be successful in this position, you will have: Certificate III or IV in School Based Education Support Ability to work as an effective team member Ability to maintain the confidence and respect of staff, students, and parents A genuine desire and passion to work with students with special needs Demonstrated interest in developing content knowledge of relevant curricula Excellent organisation, interpersonal, and communication skills Proficiency in the use of information communication technologies Ability to efficiently manage and respond to demanding and busy workloads with personal well-being strategies A valid Employee Working with Children Check is a requirement of employment for this position.
