Southern Rural Water is currently seeking a motivated Planning and Referrals Lead to join our team.
If you are an experienced professional with skills and experience in town planning or statutory planning, this could be the perfect role for you! As the Planning and Referrals Lead, you will manage SRW's obligations as a statutory planning referral authority, streamlining systems and processes for planning referrals.
Your expertise will guide land management decisions across SRW's regulated supply systems and drinking water catchments, ensuring effective responses to referrals impacting our Groundwater & Rivers operations.
As SRW's representative in planning matters, you will promote best-practice engagement with stakeholders, authorities, and the community.
Your strong communication skills will be essential in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities: Coordinate and lead the organisation's assessment of statutory planning referrals to ensure that SRW meets its obligations under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
Represent SRW's interests in discussions with internal and external stakeholders in planning matters.
Provide advice to responsible authorities on planning scheme amendments that affect SRW's interests and operations.
Develop and implement process improvements and templates to support a more streamlined, coordinated and timely assessment of planning permit referrals.
About You: The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below: A tertiary qualification in town planning or related discipline is essential.
Three years of experience in a planning related role is desirable.
Comprehensive working knowledge and experience in the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Victoria Planning Provisions and planning schemes.
Proven ability to effectively engage with stakeholders, colleagues, and cross-functional teams, both verbally and in writing.
An ability to exercise professional judgement to draft quality advice, assessments and reports.
