Classroom Teacher 2025 - Time Fraction Negotiable Job posted: 14/10/2024 Officer Specialist School is a purpose-built facility servicing the needs of students aged between 5-18, with mild to severe intellectual and associated disabilities in the shires of Cardinia and Casey.
The school opened in 2014 and has seen rapid growth, requiring the recruitment of new staff and additions to our facilities.
There are two departments at the school, Primary and Secondary, with various specialized spaces for learning and therapy.
School staff work in transdisciplinary teams that include teaching staff, allied health practitioners, and education support staff to cater for the diverse range of student abilities and needs.
Our approach provides opportunities for staff to learn from one another and share expertise.
Officer Specialist School aims to create reflective and independent learners through a learning community that provides a challenging and secure environment responsive to individual learning needs.

SC3 Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning data and to use this data to inform teaching for improved student learning.

Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills.
Range 2 classroom teachers assist the school in improving student performance and educational outcomes and contribute to the development of school policies.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners with structured support.
Responsibilities The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to: Direct teaching of groups and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area; Undertaking other classroom teaching-related and organizational duties; Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions; Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
