Founded in 1915, the school is a member of Edmund Rice Education Australia Colleges and operates in the Edmund Rice Tradition.As of July 2024, the College has over 2,000 students from Year 5 to Year 12 and is affiliated with the Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) Sporting Association. Summoned by the call of St Laurence's College motto, facere et docere: To do and to teach, the College strives to implement the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition so that it is the 'lived reality' in the community.The Role The Dean of Learning and Teaching shares the responsibility with the College Leadership Team to lead the College Strategic Plan, in line with the mission and vision of the College. This role provides specific leadership of the Heads of Faculty and Curriculum Support Teams to ensure a Liberating Education is provided across all learning and teaching in the school community. The Dean of Learning and Teaching supports the ethos of the College and the Touchstones of EREA.As a member of the College Leadership Team, the Dean of Learning and Teaching consults with the Dean of Primary School, Dean of Middle School, Dean of Pastoral Care (Senior School) and Dean of Data and Analytics. The Dean of Learning and Teaching has responsibility for the processes and structures that enhance Learning and Teaching within the whole College community. The Dean of Learning and Teaching also leads the Head of Learning and Teaching – Senior School, Head of Learning and Teaching – Middle School, Head of Pedagogy and Professional Practices, and the Heads of Learning to foster a culture of student excellence.
